Preparations for Emergency and Disaster

Seismic Isolation Structure

Our hospital has adopted the seimic isolation structure for the Main Clinical Building. Buildings with the aseismic structure are designed to endure earthquakes by the strength of the building itself. Because of this, the quake will impact the building directly, resulting in breakage to the walls and furniture. The seismic isolation structure, on the other hand, installs special devices such as laminated rubbers between buildings and the ground, which function as base-isolated layers that do not pass on the impact of earthquakes. Even when the ground shakes severely, because the building will not shake as hard and remains less affected, it is expected that it will be able to endure earthquakes with an intensity of around seven on the Japanese seismic scale.

Preparations for Emergency

As Matsuzawa Hospital is designated as one of the Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Base Hospitals, we have a rooftop heliport, and in order to accept a great number of patients in case of disaster, we have medical gases and backup power systems by the entrance hall.
The new building stores spare fuel for private power generators and water enough to endure 72 hours even when electricity and water supplies stop.
